The URI football team decided to test their fans by giving up to early scores that lead to a W&M 14-0 lead with six minutes to go in the first quarter.  After having won their two previous non-league games, the Rams' fans were hoping for something this different year.  At about the time the Rhode Island faithful had finally seated themselves, at about the time the nationally televised game (CSTV, NESN) appeared to be heading for a blowout, at about the time that one starts thinking that the tropical storm might have been better than this, the high octane Rams started their engines.

The entire A-10 league has now been served notice, this is a fearsome team.  The tremendous character the team showed after being behind early in the game is only overshadowed by the fact that the 48 - 29 score really isn't an indication of how much further the game was out of reach for W&M.  Rhode Island's new added passing dimension cubes the effectiveness of the running game and the overall offense.  Much credit goes to the men in the trenches on both sides of the ball.  Young players made big blocks, seasoned veterans brought pressure all day to W&M's QB, everything fell into place.  Rhody faced a good team from a school with a history of winning football and Rhody came away with the victory.  There is no need to single out individual players, this was a total team win.

For fans who couldn't make this game, there are no words that can tell all of big plays that were made.  The photos below tell some of the story, but you had to be there to experience the feelings of excitement and wonderment as the 2005 Rams go to 3-0.
